![]() Whirlpool did nothing except say read the manual and that they would note down this issue. I reached out to them and they said they don't service, they only fix problems so it was up to me to contact Whirlpool. I will also never trust our appliance store either after this experience. Unbelievable that I spent all this money for such a poorly designed dryer that I likely will have to replace sooner than later. ![]() ![]() Clothes seem to be getting stuck on top of the primary lint trap too and blocking air flow. One load was bone dry yet it said it was damp and still had 46 mins to go. I have been running it this week and already am concerned it wasn't put back together properly as the moisture sensor isn't working well now. After 3 years I finally had a serviceperson come to clean the disgusting mildewy mat of lint off the coils at the front and all across the machine by disassembling the ENTIRE machine. This lint eventually gets mildewy due to condensation so clothes smell after a cycle. Vacuuming religiously helps but doesn't stop it. Who on earth would buy a dryer that has to be disassembled top to bottom routinely? This introduces opportunity for more problems each time if it's not put back together properly and for disconnecting and reconnecting pieces continuously.Īll the other reviews are SPOT ON about the design flaw with the filters not being airtight and causing lint accumulation on the coils. The only way to do this is for the serviceperson to disassemble the ENTIRE dryer to access this area. If they did, NO ONE WOULD BUY THIS DRYER. They also avoid specifying in the manual exactly how cleaning the lint accumulation on the coils needs to be done, just that it should be done every 2 years. I will never buy from Whirlpool again after this experience. I bought this dryer for my allergies as it is the only large heat pump dryer around that can fit comforters, blankets and rugs that I need to wash regularly. I'm so disappointed, I will avoid Whirlpool from now on.Īll other negative reviews are spot on. We're buying a new set for our cottage as well and have decided to go with a different brand (meaning my washer and dryer will no longer be a set, unfortunately). I'm not sure if that's what's caused this issue, but another service call will cost $150, plus any repairs, so we're just giving up and replacing it. That seems like an unrealistic amount of maintenance for a modern appliance. He said I should use a shop vac to try to suck the lint out through the bottom compartment to maintain the dryer/protect the compressor. While the service man was here, he also pointed out that a lot of lint had collected in the compressor despite the fact that we have always cleaned the lint traps as directed by the manual. Now the dryer drum has stopped rotating mid-cycle, even with small loads. We aren't aware of any surges in our area, but not sure how you go about proving something like that. The service person said the warranty probably wouldn't have covered it anyway because we would have had to prove it was a manufacturer's defect and not a power surge on our end that caused it. That cost $600+ because our warranty had expired. The control panel stopped working a few months ago and we had to have it replaced. She tightly binds wire around the handle to attach the layers of broomcorn and with a few whacks of a broom pounder - not a hammer, she said - secures a tiny nail. She weighs the broomcorn, according to the size of the broom she is crafting, secures a wooden handle in the chuck of a winder and sets the 1900s-era machine in motion with a push of her foot. After Sam dyes and dries the broomcorn, Karen soaks it in hot water again, making the pieces pliable. Sam Morrison stitches together a broom using a double ended needle, which he pushes through the broom with his leather hand cuffs. When they started making brooms in 1988, they grew broomcorn on a farm in Wheat Ridge, Sam said, remembering the itchy feeling when the coarse seeds from the tall grass fell down his shirt, sticking to his sweaty back during the warm harvest months. The Morrisons always enjoyed working with their hands.
